A new Leslie Fish CD has been in the making for a while now, but the title song will be released seperately on streaming platforms as an advance single. Written by Leslie Fish in 1999 and now released by Prometheus Music. The calligraphy was done by Ans Hameleers, rest of the artwork by me.
I’ve been out wand’ring in foggy country,
Out where strange things exist:
The edge of magic, the edge of science,
Meet and merge in the mist.
And I’ve come back with a book full of songs,
A head full of tactics for righting old wrongs —
And all you can say is l’ve been gone too long!
You don’t know me at all.
I’ve been out wand’ring in hidden country,
Out where your rejects reside,
Where dreams are solid, where words are fire,
Out where the freethinkers hide.
And all you tell me is, you don’t care:
You can’t put a meter on sunlight or air.
You’ve got no use for the new world out there.
You don’t know us at all.
Guess I’ll go back there with all I’ll get here,
All that will help us go on.
That country’s growing with every outcast;
You never notice we’re gone.
And when you’ve won all those games that you play,
You just might see there’s no one left to pay.
We’ll have the whole world that you threw away, and —
We won’t know you at all.
