Elfland cd

De cd ‘Elfland’ van Leslie Fish gaat nu waarschijnlijk snel verschijnen! Deze week kwam in elk geval de titelsong al online, en de volledige cd zal dit voorjaar uitkomen. Omdat de uitgever Prometheus Music hem nu zelf al op zijn website heeft aangekondigd, kan ik mijn cover-illustratie nu ook hier laten zien. De titel is gekalligrafeerd door Ans Hameleers. Vernissen

De afwerking van een collage: vernissen, de randen netjes bijwerken en zo nodig inlijsten. Omdat ik het werk ‘Pralinen’ toch aan het vernissen was, ben ik maar gelijk doorgegaan met het afwerken van een serie andere panelen die al een tijdje klaar waren. Het is een vrij langzaam proces omdat er steeds een aantal uren tussen elke vernislaag moeten zitten waarin het werk goed kan drogen (ik doe meestal 2 of 3 lagen vernis, afhankelijk van hoe het eruitziet en of ‘het goed voelt’ na de 2e laag). Mijn atelier is niet extreem groot, dus het aantal werken dat ik tegelijkertijd kan vernissen is beperkt. Nu ligt de vloer weer even vol!

Finishing a collage involves: varnishing, cleaning up edges, and – if necessary – framing. Because I was varnishing the collage ‘Pralinen’, I kept going and decided to also varnish some other panels that had been ready for a while. It is a relatively slow process because the drying needs a good couple of hours in between layers (I usually apply 2 or 3 layers of varnish, depending on how it looks and if it ‘feels right’ after the second layer). Because my studio is not extremely large, the number of works that I can varnish at any given time is limited. The floor is covered for now!

Elfland

Er is al een tijdje een nieuwe cd van Leslie Fish in de maak, maar nu komt er alvast een single online van de titelsong. ‘Elfland’ werd in 1999 geschreven door Leslie Fish. Hieronder vind je de songtekst en het beeld dat ik daarbij maakte. De uitgave is van Prometheus Music en de kalligrafie werd verzorgd door Ans Hameleers van het Atelier voor Kalligrafie in Sittard.

A new Leslie Fish CD has been in the making for a while now, but the title song will be released seperately on streaming platforms as an advance single. Written by Leslie Fish in 1999 and now released by Prometheus Music. The calligraphy was done by Ans Hameleers, rest of the artwork by me.

Pralinen

Mijn eerste toren is af! Deze was zo leuk om te maken dat ik dus nu plannen heb om nog meer torens te gaan bouwen. Morgen laat ik waarschijnlijk nog wat details zien van het uiteindelijke werk; hieronder zie je het geheel (met een klein stukje van mijn atelier als referentie voor de afmeting).
Oh ja, en de titel is ‘Pralinen’ want dat stond op het rode doosje dat ik erin verwerkt heb!

My first tower is finished! This one was so much fun to make that I now have plans to make more. Tomorrow I will probably show some more details of this one; below is the total image (with a small part of my studio to get an idea of the scale).
Oh, and the title is ‘Pralinen’ because that's what it said on the red box I used in the top part!
