Gedichten

Ter inspiratie voor mijn autonome teken-sessies, vroeg ik mijn vriendin Dawynn Edwards om enkele gedichten. Intussen zijn er al een heel aantal mooie combinaties ontstaan tussen haar teksten en mijn illustraties! Soms ga ik tekenen met een gedicht in gedachten, soms schrijft zij een tekst bij een bestaande tekening van mij, en soms passen tekst en beeld zomaar bij elkaar zonder dat dat vooraf de bedoeling was. Een heel speciale samenwerking dus! Ik wil van alles wel een voorbeeld laten zien, maar vandaag om te beginnen een illustratie bij een gedicht, wat het oorspronkelijke plan was. Twee illustraties zelfs, want ik vond het moeilijk om er eentje te kiezen.

Especially for the friends who don't read Dutch: I wanted to do some autonomous drawing, just starting somewhere and see what would turn out. But this was more difficult than I thought. So I asked my friend Dawynn Edwards for some poems, to have a starting point from where I could draw my inspiration. This worked out extremely well: sometimes I make a drawing based on one of her texts, sometimes Dawynn writes a poem on one of my drawings and sometimes we can even combine text and image that were not meant to go together in the first place. A very special cooperation! I would like to show examples of all these options, but will start with the original plan: an illustration to go with a poem. Well, two illustrations, actually (I had a hard time choosing).
